5 Ways To Make Your Eyes Pop Under 30 Minutes

Last night was something else.

Your baby never wanted to sleep, you partied a little harder than usual, or you got stuck in front of your favorite TV show… No matter what is was, when you looked at yourself in the mirror, you pinched yourself.

That person you saw there wasn’t you. Those huge bags and puffy eyes make her look tired, sick, unhealthy… Really not the look you need for a first day at your new job, or that date you’ve been postponing since baby was born, or anything else for that matter!

 

So How Can You Deal With Eye Bags And Puffiness?

 

I won’t tell you to book an emergency appointment with a plastic surgeon. Of course, it could give you great results. In a few days from now, once the bruising’s gone.

What you need right now is an instant solution that would be easy & painless.

Lucky you, I have a few in my sleeves. I’ll give you my favorite 5 here, so you can pick and choose what works for you.

 

#5. Baby Gel Teething Rings

If that puffiness is due to sleepless baby, consider yourself lucky! You certainly have just what you need in your freezer: your baby teething ring!

Cold is a great temporary fix for puffy eyes. It won’t only work wonders, it will also soothe the tenderness often associated with tired eyes. Teething rings relieve your baby’s sore gums, they will relieve you tired eyes just the same.

Put two gel-filled baby teething rings in the freezer until they’re ice cold, then lie down and place the rings on your closed eyelids for about 10 minutes. The cold will not only reduce eye puffiness but invigorate you, too.

 

If you don’t have teething rings available, you can do the same with cold compress.

Inconvenient #1: You need to wait for the teething rings/compress to be cold enough.

Inconvenient #2: You will need to stay in the same position for the entire time of the treatment.

 

#4: Chilled Tea Bags

If you’re anything like me, you might have some used tea bags hanging on the side of your sink. Perfect! Whether it’s green, black or chamomile tea, these bags can help soothe your puffy and irritated eyes.

Green and black teas contain caffeine which constrict the tiny blood vessels in the skin around your eyes. Caffeinated tea also contains tannins which stimulate your blood circulation.

Chamomile tea doesn’t have caffeine but it does have significant anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. It also revives tired, puffy eyes and reduces redness. (Keep in mind that some people have allergic reactions to chamomile.)

Whatever tea you choose, chill the used bags and apply them on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. They will give you their specific benefits coupled with those of a cold compress.

 

If you’re more organized than me and you don’t have used tea bags available, simply brew a pot of your favorite tea—you’ll need two used bags. Once your tea is ready, remove the bags and chill them while you drink a cup or two—15 min in the freezer would be perfect. Then, lie down, close your eyes and let the chilled bags rest there while you take a short nap.

Inconvenient #1: Make sure the tea bags are cold enough so you don’t burn your eyes first.

Inconvenient #2: Like with the teething rings, you will need to stay in the same position for the entire time of the treatment.

 

#3. Sliced Cucumber

This is the most advertised homemade remedy for puffy eyes, and for a good reason! Cucumbers contain antioxidants and flavonoids that help with redness and irritation while their enzymes and astringent properties will make your blood vessels constrict to diminish the eye bags and help tighten the skin. This remedy will also help get rid of wrinkles and dark circles around your eyes. For extra puffy eye relief, use cool cucumber.

 

If puffiness is accompanied by irritation, home remedies like cucumbers or chamomile tea can help reduce the inflammation and swelling,” says dermatologist Dr. Gregory Nikolaidis. “Cold cucumbers or tea bags also work in part by the cooling effects of evaporation.”

 

Open your fridge, take out that chilled cucumber from the vegetable basket, remove the peel—so they are more comfortable—and cut the cucumber into thick roundels. Take two slices and put back the rest of them in the fridge. Now place these cucumber slices on your eyes and relax. Let them be there for the time till they get warmed, then switch for new ones. Repeat for up to 30 minutes. Afterward you’ll feel nice and refreshed.

Inconvenient #1: Like with the previous 2 solutions, you will need to stay in the same position for the entire time of the treatment.

Inconvenient #2: You might not have some cucumber in your fridge 🙁

 

#2. Gentler Eye Massage

Puffiness is caused by excessive fluids trapped around your eyes. Thus, you can make it go away with a light self-massage that will drain the fluids away from your eyes.

First, close your eyes and lightly press your ring finger under each eye. Then move your finger in arc shape from inside corner of your eye towards outside. Make 10-15 rounds. Be gentle because eyes are very sensitive organs.

 

Make it a habit to massage your eyes this way every morning before you get out of your bed and you’ll always look stunning.

Tip #1: This technique doesn’t require anything but your fingers. You can do it anywhere, any time.

Tip #2: If you do that light self-massage every day while applying your eye cream, you’ll see amazing results 🙂
